Wierdly..... I got bored of the DK and neglected to play it. I made a rogue and fell in love with it. Combo Point style play with energy was amazing. The ability to stealth and avoid conflict all-together is a huge draw card. It is numbers wise the least played class in most census data.
The rogue was and always will be my calling.
I have warlock a go but wasn't impressed. Hunter was alot of fun for learning to play the game. DK was Overpowered throughout most of WOTLK, but unfortuantely I didn't pursue with this "Flavor of the Month" class. I tried mage, pally. Shamans are for virgins imo, or people with neckbeards. Priests weren't exciting for me. Shadowpriest was slightly exciting. Warrior was the class I have played the least. Enjoyable in twinking when I did try it.
I have no regrets. Rogue was always quite strong in PVE and PVP. It does have a high-skill cap. Look up Reckful, Neilyo, Kalimist, Woundman, Bicuriousdad, Original, Buddhist, Mahikosan, Ming, Enforcer, Enfamous, Cuddlybunny for really really outstanding Rogue players. PVP was where it's at with rogue. I was always a BG fan. I dabbled in Arena and always did well with resto druid or priest, but with Australian internet (constant 300 to 400 ms) and growing up purely PVE I didnt find arena that "fun". Fighting in a 2x2 box gives away the element of suprise which is a rogue is all about. Your not supposed to know what your up against. I prefer sapping. Killing. And moving onto the next guy. I loved the style of WOTLK 41-5-25 mutilate and its variations. Average mobility, a great snare and MS and great damage when evenom had enough stacks up. and critted. Overkill 6 seconds pre-nerf... You could almost kill people and often did in that 6 second window if trinkets and luck aligned. I of course always would throw out a blind, get clean restealths and vanishes in BGs. My biggest regret is not giving arena a proper go. No biggie though.
PVE Wise. Maeli ? the Paragon rogue. + Rakez. Kremmatoria from Ensidia. All perfect players. To play a rogue well in PVE. You have to be covering all areas. Glyphs need to be set up proper. Talent build needs to be correct. Your keybindings are important. You will actually have a use for feint, tricks, vanish, clos, evasion etc. Combat was great and will always be great with its burst CDS And cleave. Once you have mastered the setup. You simply have to play the encounter better than others. Swap to the ad quicker. Interupt better. (bring PVP gloves if necessary). Roll your mousewheel if your sinister striking. I could go on and on. I might write a guide .
My own one for both PVE and PVP and post it up here when I have the time.
I loved the rogue. Pre Cata I had clocked up approxiamately 100 days played. With Cataclysm I have clocked up 125 ? Days played.
